Special Issue on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems and Soft Computing Models in Industrial and Environmental Applications.

Soft computing and Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems
represent a collection or set of computational techniques in machine learning, computer science and some engineering disciplines, which investigate, simulate, and analyze very complex issues and phenomena. They are becoming very popular due to their capabilities in handling many real world complex problems, involving imprecision, uncertainty, vagueness and high-dimensionality. They provide us with the opportunity to use both, our knowledge and raw data to solve problems in a more interesting and promising way. This special issue provides an interesting opportunity to present and discuss the latest theoretical advances and real-world applications mainly focus on industrial and environmental applications.

High-quality original papers are solicited for this special issue. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Neuro Computing
  • Probabilistic Computing
  • Immunological Computing
  • Fusion of soft computing and hard computing
  • Evolutionary Computation
  • Visualization Techniques
  • Ensemble Techniques
  • Data mining and decision support systems
  • Intelligent agent-based systems (complex systems), cognitive and Reactive distributed AI systems
  • Internet modelling
  • Human interface
  • Case base reasoning
  • Chance discovery
  • Nature-inspired Smart Hybrid Systems

This special issue is mainly focus on industrial and environmental applications.

This special issue follows from two very successful scientific events:

  • The 6th International Conference on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems. Wroclaw, Poland, May of 2011. Wroclaw University of Technology.
  • The 6th International Conference on Soft Computing Models in Industrial and Environmental Applications. Salamanca, Spain, April 6-8th, 2011. It is organized by the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca.

Authors will be invited among the best papers accepted in both conferences. Although articles must be based on original research, extended versions of papers may be acceptable if they contain at least 30% of new material.
Authors should follow the Expert Systems Journal format described at http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/117963144/home.

Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscripts through the Manuscript Central system at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/exsy,
 according to the following timetable:

Manuscript Due: July 29, 2011
First Round of Reviews: October 25,2011
Final Decision: January 01,2012
